DEWS delivers

The DEWS programme – Delivering Environmental Web Service - has spent over two years developing a demonstration system to provide time-critical, high volume environmental information in the Health and Marine sectors. The demonstrator uses an underlying Web Services architecture, addressing a wide range of technical issues including interoperability standards, scalability, data exchange, security and reliability.

The capabilities of the system have been demonstrated through two specific case studies; Marine Safety and Health forecasting. Further information can be found at www.dews.org.uk

The consortium is partly funded by the DTI and includes the following members, the Met Office, British Atmosphere Data Centre, BMT, the Environmental Systems Science Centre of the University of Reading, IBM and Lost Wax.
